Vocabulary and Background Knowledge (RDG-5C)


Description
This lesson will compare and contrast receptive and productive vocabulary and their relationship to language development. You will also identify vocabulary strategies you can use in your teaching and discover why it is essential to use the students’ native language to learn English and strengthen and enrich their native language skills (Echevarria, 2017). You will also identify ways to build background knowledge with the effectiveness of vocabulary instruction and strategies to support English language learners.
